Talmud Class – Tractate Berachot

      Schedule: Thursday evenings 5pm
      Format: Zoom

What You’ll Learn:

In this class we will learn Berachot directly from the Talmud, exploring the text line-by-line with classic and Chassidic commentaries. The focus is on understanding how the Talmud thinks — its    questions, its logic, its debates, and its halachic conclusions — while discovering the spiritual meaning behind the discussions.

Topics We’ll Cover

  • Learning the Talmud Itself: Reading the text inside, understanding structure, flow, and argument style

  • Rashi & Tosafot: How the primary commentaries explain the debates and bring clarity to difficult passages

  • How the Sages Think: Following questions, answers, proofs, contradictions, and resolutions

  • Shema: Times, intention, laws, and the spiritual idea of accepting the “Yoke of Heaven”

  • Daily Prayer: Origins, structure, missed prayers, and the meaning of standing before G‑d

  • Blessings on Food: Why blessings were instituted and how halachic decisions are made

  • Blessings on the World: How the Talmud teaches us to notice the presence of G‑d in nature

  • Halachic Process: Key principles introduced in Berachot and how they shape Jewish law
